We are excited to welcome four new models from our K-Series crawler dozer line to John Deere’s growing family of machines certified to U.S. EPA Interim Tier 4 (IT4) emissions requirements. A John Deere PowerTech 6.8L (700K, 750K) or 4.5L (550K, 650K) IT4 diesel engine provides an increase in horsepower and overall tractor weight, providing more productive machines.
Both engines meet 2012 EPA emissions requirements by utilizing the field-proven technology of cooled EGRwith exhaust filters. The engine’s diesel particulate filters are cleaned automatically during routine operation, eliminating the need to idle down for maintenance and increasing overall machine productivity. In addition, filter access is easy, should it need servicing.
So how do these new models provide contactors an emissions-certified machine that affords higher productivity, increased uptime and lower daily operating costs in earth moving and grading applications? We recently sat down with Jon Gilbeck, global product marketing manager for crawler dozers at John Deere Construction & Forestry, to talk about how these new models got a P.U.S.H. of improvements:
- Power and Performance – The new K-Series models deliver better performance than their predecessors while delivering efficient operation that meets the latest IT4 requirements, thanks to their John Deere PowerTech IT4 diesel engines.
- Undercarriage – The 550K and 650K have a redesigned undercarriage featuring seven rollers for better maneuverability and productivity.
- Structure and Serviceability– The K-Series has been designed from the ground-up with a new mainframe, grill, hood, side shields, tank and engine cradle for better performance and greater serviceability. Both the 700K and 750K feature Deere’s exclusive V-Cool package. The V-Cool system isolates coolers from dust and engine heat for increased efficiency and durability. Additionally, the new heavy-duty grille and hydraulically driven fan tilt out for best-in-class ease of service of the coolers.
- Hear – Finally, Deere focused on what you hear, or more appropriately, what you don’t hear. The new models are up to 50 percent quieter than before for more comfortable operation. Visibility is also a priority with ample glass and well-positioned in-cab components
The new K-Series models join the 850K which was the first dozer certified to U.S. EPA Interim Tier 4 emissions standards in early 2011. Want to try one out for yourself? Contact your dealer. New models are out on the lots this month! While you’re there, find out what other equipment comes outfitted with IT4 certified engines.
