Although many people who work in the U.S. enjoy what they do and the company they work for, certain brands inspire loyalty among their workers that lasts a lifetime. People who work on John Deere products tend to share a love for the farm equipment that they work on and maintain, and this can lead to long and rewarding careers at the company.

While perusing the seemingly endless amount of booths and exhibits at the 2011 Louisville Home & Garden Show, one booth was able to stick out a bit and catch our eye more than the others.  Louisville Tractor Inc., a local company out of Louisville, KY, had an exhibit at the event showing off all of the new machinery that they had to offer.  As soon as we turned that one corner, we knew where we were headed.  What caught our attention was the row of new John Deere lawn mowers and the Gator XUV 825i that they had on display and boy did they all look sharp!

I have a new goal.

We had the pleasure of catching up with Sam Lawson, President of Hartland Equipment, a 4 location John Deere dealership that is spread out throughout Kentucky. It was great speaking to Sam – he had some wonderful stories to share about the hardworking farmers that make us proud to be John Deere Green. One of our favorite stories was about a farmer that came back in to buy a tractor this year from a promise he made back in 1982!

Just like the song goes as our title suggests, we are excited to be heading to the Kentucky State Fair this Tuesday, August 24, 2010.  The state fair attracts more that 600,000 (!) people and has has been in existence since 1816!

The new John Deere dealership in Greensburg, Kansas, its predecessor destroyed by a 2007 tornado that wiped almost all of the small rural city off the map, was reconstructed with an emphasis on green technologies. The new building, constructed of metal, has been certified LEED Platinum at approximately 50% energy cost savings.
