John Deere Gator TS Overview: Key Features and Benefits

The John Deere Gator TS is a very commonly used piece of equipment among property owners. Ranging from the front yard to the rental yard, its ability to haul a large amount of cargo while also staying light on the turf at speeds up to 20 mph makes it a unique type of workhorse.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the key features and benefits offered by the 13.5 horsepower John Deere Gator TS, and how they can contribute to the success of any project being taken on.

Cargo Box

When it comes to choosing a John Deere Gator model that’s right for the desired usage, buyers often start with storage capacity. The John Deere Gator TS hosts a durable, 16-gauge cargo box that allows operators to haul even the heaviest and bulkiest materials. The cargo box is strategically placed right above the rear wheels, giving the load a stable base. The cargo box allows for a 25-in. load height, making it very easy for operators to load or unload the material being transported from one place to another.

The cargo box can haul up to 500 lbs. of material, which can be scattered across 10.1 cubic feet of surface. The box can be tilted up (manually) to provide operators with access to the machine’s drive system, or to simply fully clean out the box. When the cargo box is elevated, operators can use a provided prop rod to hold it up. When dumping manually, the box can be tilted up to 48.5 degrees, while the power lift tilts up to 47.5 degrees.

Drive System

This Gator model’s precision-engineered drive system moves power from the engine, through the variable clutch system, to the transaxle. The power is then transmitted from the front axle to the rear axle. The variable-speed drive feature is made up of two clutches, which are connected by a drive belt.

This system allows for infinite speed selection from 0 to 20 mph without having to shift. The system will also automatically adjust the speed to match the load and terrain being traversed, preventing it from bogging down. Cast-aluminum rear-axle housings support the structure soundly.

Operating Station

Whether you’re hopping aboard a John Deere Gator for work or play, you want to make sure you’re comfortable. The John Deere Gator TS has a host of comfort features that ensure the time spent on it is enjoyable. Two bucket seats sit side-by-side, allowing operators to bring a friend along for the ride. The side of each seat has a hip restraint which is designed to keep riders stable even as the Gator climbs over uneven terrain.

A 12-V outlet can be found on the instrument panel and cup holders are available so operator and their companions can bring beverages along.

All Gator models come standard with a parking brake light indicator, hour-meter, and fuel gauge located on the tank. There’s a glove box in the dashboard for riders to store materials (tools, operator’s manual, etc.) in a dry space.
