What to Expect From the John Deere 450K Crawler Dozer

Since 1976 (the year John Deere introduced hydrostatic transmission to the crawler dozer market), the company has continued to rely on customer feedback in an attempt to make the lives of contractors easier through improved equipment design. Deere recently introduced its latest K-Series crawler dozer, the 450K, and like its predecessors, it too is designed to meet builders’ needs.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the key specs and features of the John Deere 450K.

Engine

The John Deere 450K crawler dozer features an 80-hp 4.5L Final Tier 4 diesel engine that helps the machine deliver 16 percent more horsepower than its J-Series counterpart (450J). Eco Mode regulates engine RPM and the transmission to burn up to 20 percent less fuel in a variety of applications.

Machine Control

The 450K hosts Total Machine Control (TMC), enabling the operator to customize control of decelerator mode and response, steering modulation, forward/reverse ground speed, and record machine usage.

Performance and Maintenance

Like other K-Series models, the 450K includes a turbo cool-down that’s designed to improve durability by allowing the engine to idle before shutting down. The 450K also features optional electrohydraulic (EH) controls that are designed to better blade response. EH controls make the machine “grade-control” ready and Deere’s “open architecture” makes adding a grade-control system simple.

Ultimate Uptime

450K and other K-Series model owners can work with their John Deere dealers to achieve Ultimate Uptime, featuring John Deere WorkSight. With this technology, owners will be able to receive pre-delivery and follow-up inspections that include five years of JDLink™ telematics, remote diagnostics, machine health prognostics, programming capabilities and the ability to add dealer-provided uptime solutions to a customized package.

Final Thoughts

Look for the new 450K at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017, March 7 – 11, 2017, at booth N12525. Contact your local John Deere dealer for additional information about the John Deere 450K or other construction equipment models.
