Many contractors who are beginning to educate themselves on the impacts of Interim Tier 4 (IT4) are expecting ash removal every 3,000 or 4,500 hours depending on engine horsepower for the diesel particulate filter (DPF) component of their non-road diesel exhaust filters. Those are the figures most often quoted in IT4 literature because those are the minimum maintenance intervals required by the U.S. EPA.
