All rock and scrap grapple models from John Deere are able to handle large loads and difficult materials. Rock grapples, in particular, have a welded-in serrated cutting edge that easily penetrates all ground conditions. Scrap grapples feature open side with bolt-on side plates, which allows for the easy grappling of material that is wider than the bucket. Durable, 90-degree quick-couplers on the hydraulic cylinder hoses eliminate interference with the grapple itself. A solid backplate on the Quik-Tatch area protects the hydraulic cylinder hoses and the machine from debris and damage.
Scrap Grapples
Scrap grapples also have a cylinder size of 2.5 inches bore diameter and 1.4-inch rod diameter, which are designed to provide enough force to handle difficult material. Similar to the rock grapples, the grapple arms feature an integrated mechanical stop to reduce cylinder load when it’s open. The 90-degree quick-couplers on the hydraulic cylinder hoses ensure that there is no interference with the grapple itself. The thickened side cutter, side sheet, and backplate combine with the large torque tubes for heavy-duty construction that meets demanding applications. Finally, open sides with bolt-on side plates allow for the easy grappling of material that is wider than the bucket itself.
