To meet customer demands for a felling head with more range of motion and visibility, John Deere has rolled out the FS50/FR50 Felling Heads. These felling heads are compatible with the 800M and 900M Series Tracked Feller Bunchers.
“We are committed to producing high-quality, reliable equipment,” said Jim O’Halloran, product marketing manager for John Deere Tracked Harvesters and Feller Bunchers. “Based off of customer feedback, we are excited to add the FS50/FR50 Felling Heads to our forestry equipment line-up for increased accumulating capacities, improved range of motion and excellent visibility. These new models will make even the hardest tasks easier and more efficient for our customers.”
Superior Alignment
The FR50 felling head features superior alignment of bunched timber, allowing for optimal logging and harvesting. It also provides a taller horn that works together with the pocket and arms to collect larger, tighter bunches. The horn itself makes for easy handling of tall trees, which is essential during tree removal.
Arm Cylinders
Both the FR50 and FS50 include arm cylinders, which are mounted high for wear protection of the saw housing, and can easily hold up to 15 six-inch trees.
Maximum Versatility
The configuration of the FR50 maximizes versatility when positioning bunches in both plantation and thinning conditions due to increased rotation. It also allows for more efficient, precise work with timber.
Enhanced Visibility
Both the FR50 and FS50 models provide excellent visibility to the cutting area and superior wear protection of saw housing. Customers can opt for a full coverage option as well, and sealed bushings in all clamp arm pivot joints are available.
Rotating Wrist
The FR50 has a rotating wrist, as well as a cutting capacity of approximately 20 inches. This allows for more productivity during the workday.
