John Deere made the 40 Series tractor models from 1978-1982. 30+ years down the road now, show me a nice condition one with low hours and I’ll guarantee you one thing…intense buyer interest.

This tractor sold for $32,000 on a 6/13/15 farm auction in

Proof rolls in every week here during the summer of 2015. The picture above is of a nifty John Deere 4240 with 3,880 hours that sold on a June 13, 2015 farm auction in Wooster, Ohio. The sale was by my friends at Kiko Auctions. It sold for $32,000…more than it was worth brand new! Here’s a YouTube video of this tractor selling with my comments dropped in along the way:

State Fair

We’ve searched the web for information covering eight state fairs that we believe are “can’t miss” events this year. So, while producers are preparing their harvesting equipment, we hope this list and information allows them to mark their calendars for a well-deserved day of family-fun!

John Deere at the 2012 National Farm Machinery Show

February 24, 2012

National Farm Machinery Show

Each year the National Farm Machinery Show attracts thousands of people interested in viewing the latest and greatest farming equipment to the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky. This year was no different. Despite a continually-challenging agriculture and economic climate, last week’s four day show welcomed over 305,000 people, making it the third highest attendance ever in the show’s 47 year history.

While major machinery brands took up the largest chunks of floorspace, smaller booths displaying everything from boots to baskets made sure no area was left empty. The near record-breaking crowd, and sheer size of the show, made it virtually impossible to see everything available. We were sure to spend ample time in the one area that we know you care about most: John Deere.

John Deere: A Black and White Gallery

August 18, 2009

Everyone seemed to enjoy our “John Deere: An HDR Gallery” post so much that we decided another collection of John Deere images was in order. More befitting of our heritage and modest roots, these black & white photographs lend a certain sense of nostalgia to the John Deere name. Many of the photos aren’t simply of our equipment, but of the people who owned them, who maintained them and who likely passed on their affinity for everything John Deere. If you, our readers and loyal fans, have any black & white photographs in your possession featuring John Deere tractors and equipment, perhaps even your grandfather sitting astride it, please drop us a line and we’d be happy to include it.
