With the rapidly growing population, agricultural producers are constantly being tasked with new challenges in providing food, fiber, and fuel to a rapidly growing population. Since early in 2011, John Deere has introduced a number of agricultural technology products that have simplified a variety of the processes necessary to meet these challenges.
In this post, we will take a walk down memory lane, looking at each innovation and the features they offer to help simplify life in the field.
March 4, 2011- John Deere FarmSight
JD FarmSight gives customers an opportunity to gain deeper insights into their business by introducing remote monitoring of machines, optimization for fuel consumption and output performance, as well as more detailed agronomic information for improved decision-making on the field.
August 25, 2011- Machine Sync Technology
With this technology, equipment operators can see the location of all grain carts in the network, and from within the combine, they can send “ready-to-unload requests” based on gathered in-field information.
February 10, 2012- Harvest Identification
Cotton growers are able to store and retrieve information about their crop, eliminating manual tagging of modules, providing on-the-go documentation, and simplified record keeping with harvest identification.
February 29, 2012- Mobile Weather
While out in the field looking to make applications, it’s important to understand the weather by the minute. John Deere Mobile Weather uses a third-party weather sensor which is connected to the Application Controller, offering valuable wind, temperature, or humidity condition information that could impact the application process.
March 16, 2012- Implement Detection
Operators are able to have implements and task-specific settings uploaded directly onto their GreenStar display inside the cab. This allows operators to make sure implements are set up the same way from use to use and year to year.
June 29, 2012- Remote Display Access
When managing a large fleet of machines and operators it’s important to be able to remotely access information. This feature allows managers to access GreenStar displays from computers, tablets, or smartphones to better manage the fleet.
June 29, 2012- MyJohnDeere Web Portal
MyJohnDeere.com gives Deere customers an online portal to access and manage their equipment information, production data, and farm operations from a single online location.
October 26, 2012- John Deere Field Connect
Agricultural producers know the importance of monitoring soil moisture levels, the Field Connect system allows farmers to gather data that is collected through probes installed in customer fields which is then transported to a web portal for access.
November 19, 2012- Mobile Farm Manager
The Mobile Farm Manager app allows users to access and analyze valuable field data (such as application and fertility maps, soil grids, and crop product data) from the palm of their hands while in the field.
December 3, 2012- John Deere B-Wrap
Prior to the introduction of B-Wrap technology, hay bales had to be stored indoors to protect their quality and return the best yield. B-Wrap sheds snow, rain, and ground moisture, providing an alternative to indoor storage.
February 27, 2013- Cell Phone and Tablet Mounting Brackets
With all of these mobile technology introductions, it only makes sense to have mounting brackets available within agricultural equipment. That’s exactly what has been done here, allowing operators to view and access mobile devices from within the cab.
March 1, 2013- Field Connect Sensors
Expanding on the soil moisture monitoring system, Deere has added additional sensors including, Weather Station, Rain Gauge, Temperature Sensor, Pyranometer, and Leaf Wetness Sensor to provide even more insight into real-time conditions.
Farmers are continuously being tasked to produce more and more agricultural products within the same time period year in and year out. These latest agricultural technology introductions aim to meet these needs and simplify the overall process.
