A week ago, we continued our trip through John Deere’s riding mower history, as we showcased some innovation of the 1990s, a decade that included a number of new models that were recognized for their versatility and overall performance.
This week, we will wrap up our series and look at John Deere riding mower history 2000s-style. While Deere made a number upgrades to existing models in the 2000s, offering more power and additional size, we want to focus on two of the biggest product announcements made that decade. Enjoy!
LA Series: With plenty of horsepower, the LA Series is an exceptional riding mower for those that have larger yards to mow. With a full-length frame made of welded steel, full pressed lubrication, cast iron front axles, headlights, translucent fuel tank including a sight gauge, comfortable operator station, Edge Cutting system, and an option for Reverse Implement, this series has all the answers. This series also features John Deere’s trademarked CargO Mount system, which allows for a large bagger or other heavy rear-mounted equipment to be easily attached. Additional attachments that can be easily added to the LA series include lawn sweepers, front blades, tractor shovels, mid-mount blades, carts, snow blowers, sprayers, aerators, and more. This combination of power and versatility partner up to make for a useful mower for medium-large-sized lawn owners.
X Series: This series of John Deere riding mowers transfers power to the wheels through the use of hydrostatic transmission, functioning as a time-saver during operation as it eliminates gear-changing needed to speed up or slow down. By pressing the reverse or forward pedals of the mower, the operator can simply speed up or slow down depending on the pressure applied. The X Series plays host to the Edge Cutting System, which promises to offer superior mowing convenience, performance, and reliability, and the series’ tight turning radius makes it a useful machine for those hard-to-mow spaces of the yard.
While these two series are just a few of the changes and additions made to John Deere’s mowers during the 2000s, they were certainly advancements worthy of recognition. For a complete look at all the models that rolled off the assembly line in the 2000s, please take a look at the following charts!
