This Thanksgiving, as we sit down to our turkey dinners, it makes sense to give thanks for the farmers—and the machines—responsible for delivering food to our tables. Hard-working farmers across the country drive John Deere tractors and work to plow, plant, and harvest the crops that eventually end up on our dinner plates.

Waterloo Boy
How could we compile a list of JD tractors to be thankful for without going back to the tractor that started it all? The first Waterloo Boy tractor was released in 1914 in a variety of models and engine sizes. In 1918, the John Deere Company purchased the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company and continued to sell tractors under the Waterloo Boy name until 1923.
John Deere Model A Tractor
The row crop planting process wouldn’t be what it is today without the first true row crop tractor, the John Deere Model A. The first Model A, manufactured in 1934, had adjustable wheel treads, which gave it a wider range of utility and adaptability than other models on the market at that time. Nowadays, row crop tractors have evolved to become even easier to maneuver across the field, making crop planting and preparation a simpler process.
John Deere Model R Tractor
The John Deere Model R, released in 1949, was the breakout star of its time. The first diesel powered tractor engineered by Deere, the Model R became known for its power and performance on large farms and it marked a significant turning point in how the John Deere Company designed all of its future agriculture equipment.
John Deere 2025R Compact Utility Tractor
These days, John Deere tractors have evolved to become high horsepower machines capable of tackling even the toughest farming jobs.
