The arrival of Labor Day can mean a lot of important things to people.  It could mean the end of summer and the start of a new school year, the beginning of football season, or even the last day it’s fashionable to wear white, but for most of us it’s just a day we’re happy to have off from work.  If you’re sitting there wondering what you’re going to do all day, don’t worry, we have you covered!  Below is a list of five ideas that you can use to turn your lazy day off into the most exciting (and John Deere-themed) Labor Day you’ve ever had!

1.  Pattern Mow Your Lawn

You see it all the time on sports fields, so why not learn to pattern mow your own lawn?  Learning how isn’t difficult, just watch the video below and see if there’s a striping kit that will fit your mower.  After that, get out your John Deere mower and get to work!  When you’re finished, sit back and wait for the compliments!

2.  Make Cookies!

Who doesn’t like the sweet taste of freshly baked cookies!?  A day off from work is the perfect time to get some baking done, and John Deere themed cookies are sure to be a hit!  You’ve seen some creative John Deere cakes before, but we like cookies just as much.  There’s some inspiration for cookie decorating below, but we’d love to see what else you can come with on our Facebook Page!

3.  Watch Movies

Watching movies may not make your day more productive, but that doesn’t make them any less exciting.  What makes it better is that John Deere is actually quite the movie star.  From Field of Dreams and Twister to The Longest Yard and Seabiscuit, there are plenty of movies with John Deere tractors.  For more movies starring the green and yellow, check out our John Deere on the Silver Screen post!

4.  Check Out John Deere’s New Equipment

John Deere recently had their new product introduction, where they introduced an abundance of new machines.  It was their largest new product introduction in their entire 174-year history, and they didn’t disappoint.  If you haven’t seen our recent new product intro post, you can check it out for an overview and several links to more information.  If you truly are a John Deere fan, this is a great way to catch up on their latest improvements and innovations.

5.  Learn Photography

Throughout the life of this blog, we’ve had posts focused on macro photography, tilt shift photography, HDR photography, and even an entire gallery of John Deere photos by moonlight.  But now it’s your turn!  Head out this Labor Day and show us your photography skills by taking pictures of your John Deere machines in action.  Be creative and fun, and don’t forget to post them on our Facebook Page!
